Minimserver dlna
Last night, I reconfigured the Raspberry Pi4 server on which Volumio resided as a Picoreplayer with LMS, including the LMS DLNA plug-in. (Although I created it as a separate server, my HQPe profile is functionally identical to the JRiver 24-bit DAC preset.)Įxperimentally since then, I have tried other JRiver server configurations but haven't been unsuccessful with any. HQPe now handles mp3, so the only files I have that it can't handle natively are a few m4a's from iTunes, stripped of DRM by Apple Match awhile ago. The server as configured streams files in native format without processing. Otherwise, though, I have no way of knowing what HQPe would rather see. I haven't updated that server configuration, with which I created and associated with HQPe after getting setup instructions in these forums, and I haven't updated either JRiver or my network at all since this all worked initially. I only am certain that JRiver is feeding a format that HQPe can read because this setup worked for a month or more after I first purchased HQPe in October. I have had issues with other aspects of HQPe and have been able to resolve them with extensive handholding from Jussi and others on this forum, but I have been on my own with this one.
#MINIMSERVER DLNA TRIAL#
It's not the end of the world because I can continue to use HQPe "natively," with Audirvana, with Roon (which I have on trial and generally despise beyond its ability to connect to nearly everything in my house), and with MinimServer, but I prefer curating metadata in a single library, i.e., JRiver, rather than having to maintain multiple local libraries, including on a network mount for HQpe. Yet, I also, for some reason, can play to HQPe without issue using MinimServer, which does claim to use DLNA technology. That suggests to me that this is a DLNA issue rather than a JRiver or Volumio configuration issue per se. My conclusion would be that something's gotten messed up in my network's handling of DLNA, except that I still can use DLNA with Volumio and JRiver as servers to other DLNA end points. I especially am confused because HQPe continues to show up all of the time in the DLNA player picklists after I have done all of this.Īt the same time, I can just play fine from Roon, Audirvana, HQPWV, and HQPControl v.4, which don't claim to use DLNA technology when serving music. I have disconnected from power and ethernet every device in the chains over which I play DLNA, disconnected and reconnected all signal cables, shut down and restarted HQPe a hundred times, ensured that all NAA's have functioning USB DAC connections, rebooted my router several times, and reserved HQPe's IP address. In JRiver, the HQPe DLNA player is associated with the correct version of DLNA server in JRiver options. I have not made any changes whatsoever to JRiver, Volumio, or my network since before this problem started. Double-check your device, server, and network settings." Clicking "OK" brings up another iteration or two of that error message, followed by, "Something went wrong with playback."
There, though, I at least get the error message, "There was a problem controlling the selected DLNA device. Similarly, when I go to JRiver on my desktop computer and manually select HQPe as the player, nothing happens. Now, though, when I select HQPe as the player and connect via either of mconnect or JRiver, the track's thumbnail appears in the "now playing" window but nothing happens when I press "play." HQPe showed up - and still shows up - as a DLNA player in mconnect and JRiver. It was this capability that enticed me to buy an HQPe license, actually. Until a few days ago, I was able to stream to HQPe using mconnect playing from Volumio with miniDLNA enabled and using JRemote2 playing from JRiver.
